Moving from England to work in Sweden was a smooth transition. I arrived during summer—which I highly recommend—when the country is at its most welcoming. The change in seasons was refreshing too; having distinct winters and summers brought a new rhythm to daily life. More importantly, I was met with warmth and openness from colleagues, which made settling in both personally and professionally much easier.

Settling into Swedish Work Culture
Swedish work culture—and Mips in particular—struck me as incredibly inclusive and supportive. The biggest challenge? Improving my baking skills for fika! That’s a testament to how seriously we take social connection here. 


Intellectual Property with Real-World Impact
One thing I’ve come to appreciate deeply at Mips is how central intellectual property is to our business. Because we license our technology to partner brands, strong patent protection directly contributes to our value and market position. I enjoy the variety in my role—from innovation meetings with engineers to tracking competitor IP and shaping our patent strategy. There’s always something new to dive into.


Expanding Skills and Perspective
Since joining Mips, I’ve developed my expertise in brand protection, an area I hadn’t worked in much before. Collaborating internally and with external partners has broadened my understanding and sharpened my approach.


A Culture of Support and Collaboration
Mips encourages learning—both through hands-on experience and formal courses—and the small, open team environment makes it easy to share knowledge. People here make time for one another, no matter the department. That cross-functional support has been key to my growth.


Advice for Newcomers
