MIPS ANNOUNCES FALL 2016 SNOW HELMET COLLECTION
STOCKHOLM (January 25, 2016) – MIPS AB, the patented Multi-directional Impact Protection System, will be available in eight new snow helmet models for the 2016/17 season offering skiers and snowboarders an extensive range of fresh designs that incorporate this unique head protection technology. MIPS will be available in new models from partners Giro, Anon, Bliz, Pret, Scott Sports, Smith, LinkPro and Dynafit in men’s, women’s and youth styles.
“The new MIPS helmet lineup is more diverse than ever, and will feature top-of-the-line options across categories including snowboarding, freeride, alpine racing, park, and ski mountaineering,” says Johan Thiel, MIPS CEO. “No matter the helmet category, we are dedicated to improving head protection and increasing brain safety awareness in the snowsports industry.”MIPS is a patented technology developed to reduce rotational forces on the brain. Helmets are designed to absorb direct impacts but when combined with MIPS, they can absorb oblique forces of certain impacts by allowing a small rotation of the outer shell relative to the liner. This technology mimics the function of cerebral spinal fluid in the human head and adds a second layer of safety that can reduce damage to the brain during impact.
The MIPS helmet collection will be on display at the SIA Snow Show, January 28-31 in Denver and ISPO, January 24-27 in Munich at booths A6.UE_5 and A6.109. To schedule an appointment or for additional product information please contact carl.johnson@backbonemedia.net.
